“Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver bowls, but also those of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. So if anyone purifies herself from anything dishonorable, she will be a special instrument, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.”

~II Timothy 2:20-21

We can view ourselves and our lives much like different types of dishes. Paper, wood, clay, glass, porcelain, and fine china. It does not matter how we see or value ourselves, we are treasures to our Master. We are His special instruments, set apart, useful for Him, and prepared for every good work.

There was a day when I shunned the thought of using disposable plates. I desired for every meal to have significance. My futile mind led me to believe that in order for a family dinner to be special it could never be served on paper plates. Once our family of two became a family of three, four, then five, I quickly realized that a time shared as a family around the table was just as meaningful with styrofoam plates as everyday dishes or fine china. I found treasure in our time spent together rather than laboring over dirty dishes.

Although we set the table with styrofoam plates most of the time, I have nice everyday dishes in the cabinet and fine china in the dining room. Each of these types of dishes have served our family well over the years that aided in making special memories and meaningful conversations. However, everyone knows that when the fine china is set out for a meal, it must be a special occasion! My china dishes are a treasure to me. They were all given as wedding gifts and the price tag was not cheap. I keep them on display behind glass doors inside the china cabinet for safe keeping.

Our Master displays us like fine china, but desires us to be useful and prepared for every good work daily.

You are Precious.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” ~Eph. 2:10 NLT

You are Priceless.
“When he found one priceless pearl, he went and sold everything he had, and bought it.” ~Matt. 13:46 HCS

You are Purposed.
“For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.” ~Phil. 2:13 HCB

Live an honorable life on display for your Master! Fulfill your purpose as His special instrument, set apart, useful, and fully prepared!
